“Any Shot, Any Time”: LIV Golf Unveils Game-Changing App Features

LIV Golf partners with Google Cloud and PMY to launch an innovative app with unprecedented shot-tracking capabilities, signifying its commitment to revolutionizing golf viewership using cutting-edge technology.

LIV Golf made waves once again by inking a groundbreaking, multi-year partnership with tech juggernaut Google Cloud and entertainment firm PMY Group. The collaboration aims to completely transform the way fans experience professional golf tournaments.

    Summary

    • LIV Golf signs multi-year partnership with Google Cloud and PMY Group to enhance fan experience and broadcasts
    • New “Any Shot, Any Time” feature launching in summer 2024 will allow fans to watch any player at any time during LIV Golf events
    • LIV Golf companion app also launching in summer 2024 with advanced stats, aerial views, virtual caddy, and customized recaps
    • Partnership aims to “revolutionize golf” and “bring the sport into the future” with innovative technology
    • LIV Golf’s 2024 season begins February 3 with debuts of new signings Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton

As part of the agreement, LIV will launch its long-anticipated companion app this summer, just in time for the meat of the 2024 LIV Golf season. The app’s crown jewel feature allows viewers to watch “Any Shot, Any Time” from any player during LIV events, a first for golf. Fans can literally pick and choose each shot they want to see as it happens, following their favorite golfers without missing any of the action.

LIV Commissioner Greg Norman called it “a game changer for golf and most importantly, for the fans.” Built on Google Cloud’s Vertex AI platform, the technology enables fully customizable, searchable highlight reels on-demand. “Our advanced approach to technology and innovation will revolutionize golf,” Norman added.

Crushers GC captain and 4-time major winner Bryson DeChambeau echoed that sentiment, saying the partnership “enables the league and teams to develop a modern approach to maximizing technology to new levels.” He explained that exploring the boundaries of what’s possible aligns perfectly with LIV Golf’s ethos of constant improvement.

And the cutting-edge features don’t stop there. The LIV Golf companion app, also fueled by Google Cloud’s leading AI, provides overhead 3D venue maps, real-time stats for players and teams, a virtual caddy view of each hole, and tailored tournament recaps. Fans can download it this summer on iOS and Android mobile devices to enhance their viewing experience.

PMY CEO Paul Yeomans summed up the motivation behind the blockbuster collaboration: “Our shared goal is to revolutionize the sports experience and unleash our combined expertise and world-class technologies for one of the world’s most innovative sports properties, LIV Golf.”

The timing coincides with LIV Golf’s 2024 season opener on February 3 at the Mayakoba resort in Mexico. New mega-signings Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton will make their team debuts as the upstart league continues expanding its roster of elite talent.

With game-changing broadcast technology and Google Cloud’s virtually unlimited resources now on its side, LIV appears determined to push professional golf further into the future than ever before. The partnership lays the foundation for LIV to disrupt conventional sports media and set a new standard that all tours must try to match.
