Konami Gaming Division Posts Modest Revenue Gain Amid Sharp Profit Decline in FY2026

oliBy oliMay 11, 20264 Mins Read

    Key Highlights

    Contents

    • Gaming and systems segment revenue reached US$274.9 million for the fiscal year ending March 2026, representing a 1% annual increase
    • Operating profit declined sharply by 50.4% compared to the previous fiscal year, with margins compressing from 17% down to approximately 8%
    • Konami introduced the Solstice 49C cabinet, marking its first new platform release in approximately six years
    • Synkros casino management system deployment continued with new installations across multiple properties
    • Company forecasts gaming division revenue of JPY46 billion and operating profit of JPY6.5 billion for fiscal 2027
    • Overall corporate revenue surged 17.1% to nearly JPY493.68 billion, with consolidated profit climbing 33.9%

Konami Group unveiled contrasting performance metrics for its gaming and systems business unit during the fiscal year that concluded on March 31, 2026. While the segment achieved marginal revenue expansion, profitability took a significant hit with operating income falling by more than 50% year-over-year.

The gaming and systems division generated approximately JPY43.08 billion in revenue, translating to roughly US$274.9 million. This figure represented a modest 1% uptick from the JPY42.67 billion recorded during the previous fiscal period.

However, profitability metrics painted a considerably bleaker picture. Operating income for the division plummeted 50.4% to JPY3.65 billion. Correspondingly, the operating margin contracted substantially from approximately 17% to around 8%.

This business segment encompasses Konami’s casino slot machine offerings and integrated casino management solutions. Additionally, the company established Konami Online Interactive in October as what it characterized as the third strategic pillar supporting its gaming operations.

Konami conducts its casino gaming activities beyond Japan’s borders through two primary entities: Konami Australia Pty Ltd and Konami Gaming Inc in the United States. According to company statements, both the North American and Australian markets demonstrated stability throughout the reporting period.

    Product Innovation and Platform Debuts

Among the most significant developments during the fiscal year was the introduction of the Solstice 49C cabinet. Konami characterized this release as its first new cabinet platform in approximately six years and the inaugural entry in the Solstice product line.

According to the company, cabinets within the Solstice series delivered strong performance throughout the year. Games featuring Bomberman themes, leveraging Konami’s proprietary intellectual property portfolio, were prominently showcased on the new hardware platform.

In the Australian market, Konami reported that its Bull Rush Stampede game series garnered considerable player interest. The company also observed that rival manufacturers introduced competing slot products during this timeframe, which created additional placement possibilities across both geographic markets.

Regarding casino management systems, Konami documented ongoing deployment of its Synkros platform. Fresh installations were successfully completed at gaming establishments in California and New Mexico, in addition to implementation aboard cruise vessels.

The organization also broadened the application of Synk Vision, its facial recognition technology for slot machine users, to encompass table gaming operations. Konami indicated this expansion would enhance operational efficiency for casino operators while simultaneously improving the player experience.

    Future Projections and Consolidated Performance

For the upcoming fiscal period, Konami forecasted gaming and systems revenue of approximately JPY46 billion for the year concluding March 31, 2027. The company also projected operating profit of JPY6.5 billion during the same timeframe, signaling an anticipated rebound from current-year results.

Konami’s consolidated corporate performance extended well beyond its gaming operations. Company-wide revenue for the twelve-month period climbed 17.1% year-over-year to approach JPY493.68 billion.

Consolidated profit reached approximately JPY100.01 billion, marking a 33.9% increase compared to the preceding fiscal year. These figures demonstrated that Konami’s diversified business portfolio generated robust growth despite the gaming segment’s margin compression challenges.

Konami further disclosed a final dividend payment of JPY138.50 per share for the fiscal year, scheduled for distribution on June 4. This represented an increase from the JPY107.50 dividend issued in the prior year.

The dividend enhancement coincided with broad-based strength throughout the company’s diversified business operations. The gaming division’s profitability setback presented a stark contrast to the positive momentum exhibited across other segments during the identical reporting window.

Konami’s gaming and systems division is anticipated to achieve JPY46 billion in revenue and JPY6.5 billion in operating profit during fiscal 2027.
